LPWA Convention
UNLEASH FREEDOM
April 12-14, 2024

The Woman’s Club of Spokane
1428 W 9th Ave, Spokane 99204

Food freedom, gun rights, magic & comedy, libertarian women, and more! Featuring Doc Dixon, Texas Slim, Bess Byers, and others to be announced.

BIG NEWS: OFF-YEAR SPECIAL ELECTION FOR CHAIR

LPWA’s chair of three years, Anna Johnson Duque, is stepping down early to spend more time with family (term would have expired spring 2025). We’ll be holding an election for a new chair to finish out the term! Candidates yet to be announced.

MEMBERSHIP DEADLINES

The bylaws have some exceptions, but the short answer is:

Join or renew your LPWA membership by February 13 in order to be eligible for National Convention delegation in DC in May.

Join or renew your LPWA membership by March 13 in order to vote at LPWA convention.

And you do NOT need to join or renew your LP National membership until the time of the LP National Convention in May. (A potential proposed bylaw at state convention may strike this requirement entirely anyway.)

SCHEDULE

Full schedule available at the registration page.

TICKET PRICES

We’re delighted to announce that ticket prices are LOWER by 10% this year—despite ballooning inflation!—and if you buy by March 13, they’re even lower. See more details at the registration page.

LODGING IN SPOKANE

Airbnbs in Spokane are the best price, and there are many close to the Woman’s Club. We’re working on getting a hotel block closer to the venue. Check back here soon for new info.

Until then, we have a block of inexpensive rooms reserved at the Super 8 by Wyndham, 2020 N. Argonne Rd (15 min away). Call 509-724-0025 between 9-3pm; block reserved for LPWA convention.

Featured Speakers

Doc Dixon

Doc Dixon has fooled Penn & Teller on the hit TV show Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and performed on The Late Late Show with James Corden. For decades Doc Dixon has performed for corporate events, conventions, and cruise ships worldwide and currently tours theaters with his one man comedy & magic show, Too Much Coffee. He’s no stranger to libertarians: he just moderated AZLP’s 2024 presidential debate, has appeared on Matt Kibbe’s Free The People and 2023 FreedomFest, and has been on the Tom Woods Show three times—including the 2000th episode, where he “sawed Tom Woods in half.” Magic’s #1 trade journal said, “Doc is one of the truly great working magicians and a hilarious performer. He is inspiring on every level.”

Check out Doc Dixon’s website.

Texas Slim

Texas Slim, an advocate for sustainable food systems and founder of the Beef Initiative, is revolutionizing the beef industry. His commitment to ethical and sustainable farming practices is driving a significant shift towards a more localized and secure food supply.

Texas Slim advocates for a return to regenerative farming methods, emphasizing the importance of food integrity and community-based food systems. His vision extends beyond just providing quality beef; it’s about empowering communities, supporting local ranchers, and educating consumers about the benefits of sustainable food sources.

Bess Byers

Bess Byers is a political activist, cannabis photographer, and social media expert with many years of experience in the libertarian world. Last year she did a research project on women in libertarianism in her capacity as social media specialist with Reason magazine. Many of us know Bess from when she lived in Washington — now she lives in a small Idaho mountain town, where she supports de-scheduling marijuana, gun ownership for all cannabis consumers, the repeal of 280e and lowering eliminating as many taxes as possible.

Bess is @iamcannabess on Twitter and @bessbyers on IG and Twitter! And check out her website.

Justin Franks

Justin Franks has a wild story: Many years ago he lost his right to bear arms on what some would call a technicality and spent years trying to get it back. But the problem was, the government wanted to use him as an example.

Justin has spent many years in the tech industry, and is endorsed by LPWA in his campaign for the state legislature in 2024 (SD19 in Southwest Washington).
